Rim Restoration = Sandblast Question

Hi guys,

I painted my + style rims black last year, and I'm kinda sick of them, and want them to sparkle again. I Bought an "OK" sandblaster last month, and I figure it'll make it a fairly easy job. Has anyone sand blasted their rims? I want to know what kind of spray material I should use, Glass, Sand, or beads? I've sprayed a few rotors with sand and it really gives them a dull tinge, I want some extreme shine. I would also like some tips about how to polish them afterwards, and what to use as polishers and protectors.

-Thanks, Matt

Use walnut shells for blasting. Seriously.

Mothers makes good cutting and polishing compounds.

You may have to Dremel for total detail shine, though.

You'll need to polish them when you're done, no matter what you blast them with. I've never used walnut shells, but i think david is correct...i think that's what you should blast them with. I love sandblasting!

if you want you can buy two things which would be a 90-120 grit sand and glass beads ill get you the size tommorow. we use them at work to make turbine parts really shiny it looks nice though. but if you want a polished lip you have to do that yourself.
