Rex is out of storage!!!! Woohoo!

And she started right up! 10 seconds on the starter with a fairly weak battery and vroooom! I finished installing my new fuel system today as well...... and it obviously it works. :D This winter I restored my gas tank and unfortunately it has left me with a non-functioning fuel guage. :(

Has anyone else taking their Rex's outa storage yet?

Out of storage? We here in Florida don't get to worry about that :D

last day of winter it was 94 down here. ;)

Took Pamela out of storage on Wednesday when I returned from LA. Filled the tank, turned the key, and she fired right up! Her first excursion was to the car wash...

I started my GS today, the one that doens't run for shit, and sat outside all winter with no "winter prep", after about 10 seconds of cranking it started right up today, still runs like shit, but it started easily, i was really surprised, that battery was out of an old van we had, and it hasn't been charged in a loooooong time, like 2 years at least. Trans Am started up pretty easy too, not like anyone here cares.

I took mine out of storage a couple of hours ago and i put it in a couple hours before that. tehe. Am i missing something is'nt it bad to let your rex sit?

82transam 03-22-03 09:19 PM

yes, sitting is what kills cars. Even in a climate controlled building, having taken the proper storage precautions stuff will get gummed up etc, from non use. Obviously, if you gonna store a car, inside is the place to do it, but storage in general isn't very good.

As long as you take care to clean off any salt and road crap each week, no storage needed in Kansas!

You gonna get all the salt out of all the small crevices in the frame too? How bout all that creeps up in the wheel wells and inside the rear quarters too? I used to think like you did, humm as long as I clean it, it will be OK... WRONG: You should have seen my 80 when I sold it to Jayroc, 5 or 6 good winters and 2 years later the car was rusted to HELL and back... Best solution is dont drive your car in the rain or the salt :)
