Replacing 1980 Alternator

Don't worry, I've already replaced it, half the battle was solved with a cutting wheel.

Just wanted to know if I need to connect the regulator that is now attached to the alternator. My 30 year old original didn't have one on, I've got a similar one on my distributor. Is it okay to have the two connected?

Did I answer my own question, or does no one know?

don't know bout this regulator that's attached to the alt. and a similar one on the dist. there's nothing remotely resembling a voltage regulator mounted to the dist. the original alt used an external reg. if the one u got has an internal reg, u'll need to do some rewiring to bypass the external reg. u can have ur original alt rebuilt.

the bearing seized on it.

I'm pretty sure the '80 is the bastard child of satan, '79 was old points, and '81 and up were pretty standardized across all cars. It runs so I guess its not doing any harm for now.
