Replace my muffler with straight pipe
Replace my muffler with straight pipe and if i do what size is best?
|
what are you running? stock port/street/bridge? 12a or 13b?
I am going with 2.5" 1/8thick T300, stockport 12a. I would stick with 2.25, but I am dropping in a balf bridge/street port motor in it in a while, and dont want to do the exhaust twice. |

I noticed that you don't have many posts here so you may be new to the RX-7 community, and if so you should be warned that nearly ANY exhaust modification to a rotary will make it louder, sometimes WAY to loud. Alt of this has already been covered so check out the archives/faqs... that's a good place to start. |
i replaced my cats with a straight pipe on my stock port 13b and it loud. louder than i now care for

i replaced my cats with a race/test pipe and it didnt really make it louder at all just changed the sound to a deeper more pingy rotary sound which is very nice and its not loud ..

I have a stockport 12A
Heres what I did and loved it! I bought about 7' of 1/8" 2.5"Diameter from an exhayst shop for like $35? Found a 2.5" flange, they tac welded the flange on for free. Then I drove to Shucks (auto parts storr) Got a raptor muffler for $25. mounted it all on and loved it! definately best bang per buck! On a side note I put the straight pipe on, then my girlfriend at the time needed me to come over for something right then, so then Im thinking 'Well my friends open header 454 sounds pretty badass, Ill just drive over there now and get a muffler tomorrow. HOLY SHIT!!! I could feel my brain bouncing off the sides of my skull at anything over 3k rpm. Ill bet its at least as loud as a piston airplane up close, if not more so! that was one deafening 20 mile ride... I felt sorry for the people around when I hit traffic. |

Oh, that story was just a side note DRIVING WITH *NO* MUFFLER. The Raptor was suprisingly quiet. About as quiet as a stock 8cyl Ferrari. Certainly not illegeal loud.
And LOL @ RX7 disease! :rlaugh: |
