Removing heater box flapper doors?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey all,

I've searched and searched and came up empty. I disassembled my heater box to clean it up. The closed cell foam on the flapper doors inside has turned to dust and I need to recover them, however they seem to be installed such that they cannot be removed without destroying them. Here's a pic of what they look like:

Attachment 551381

There is no play in the end of the door shaft and the arm it's connected to. It's like the door shaft was plastic welded and snipped off. Has anyone removed these before that could tell me how to disassemble them? It would be easiest to install new foam with them out of the box, but if worse came to worst I could install with them in the box but I'd rather do it right.

Any and all comments welcome!!

Thanks everyone!

You might track down the Parts Manual here somewhere for your model year of RX. Several folks here have the downloadable PDFs. (moderator Sgt Fox for one I think) That way you can look at the exploded-view diagram for the heater and see how its all put together.

Thanks Stu, I appreciate the assist! I found what I needed doing a search of the 3rd gen section. Lesson learned: look at ALL sections on this website - sorry folks, my bad.

Anyway, there's a really good writeup on there for doing this exact thing.
