redline?
tried to run my 1979 bone stock 12a to redline on the advice of a few rotary owners here and on the outside. problems arise when I get to about 5500-6000 and go wide open throttle, it bogs and backfires and just doesn't sound good. if I gradually press the gas it does better, but wondering what the problem could be with WOT? timing is correct, float levels are a little off, but close. runs great otherwise. thinking about swapping carbs with another one I have ready. any other ideas?

Backfiring can be caused by a exhaust leak letting in extra air.

Your secondary circuits are probably not working correctly. By slowly pressing the gas, the vacuum secondaries are not opening and you are running the primaries only. I would check for vacuum leaks first and foremost. Swapping a different carb will just make it harder to diagnose.
