red timing mark?
Ok, searching and searching, I see yellow, orange, and white timing marks on everyones cars and posts, but no one mentions red. I have a Red dot and Yellow dot, and I dont know which is which. Can you guys help?
Yes, I have read the FSM, and nothing mentioned about the color of the marks.
The yellow will be the leading.
Yellow - leading and red - trailing. If I set it to this and it stumbles (all electricals working flawlessly) then it is a carb problem, yes?
Are you setting the timing with the rpms at 750, the vacuum lines to the dizzy unhooked and plugged?
I cant get my RPMs to 750, it will just stall and die.

What he said. If you can't get the idle down, try going ahead and setting it at 0 degrees advance. Your probally advaced 10-20 degrees and that will not allow the idle to come down. Make sure to hook to the right coils wire and the correct sparkplug wire and that the dizzy is unhooked from the vac. |
Now when I put the front coil on leading and rear on trailing, when I try to set the trailing w/ the dizzy pod, the trailing mark doesnt move. When I swap the coil wires so the front coil is trailing and the rear coil is leading, I can adjust both.

Awesome awesome, timing is set, but the trailing igniter is going out. Props to Bad83
