I think it should be brought back on a monthly basis, at least, for ALL the newbs to read :D

ArmySoldier 02-13-05 02:13 AM

Wow....totally speechless.

mcnannay 02-13-05 03:10 AM

very good thread, but damn its old

there should be an option for the mods to keep shit like this alive (stickys dont count) it should just be resurected, or made a must read for the newbs.... that would be cool

rwatson5651 02-13-05 09:06 PM

That is one hell of a interesting story!!!!

You have GOT to put that car back together just do justice and bring the story full circle.

It is impressive AS HELL that you took the effort to investigate and find your car, most people would have rolled over and given up, Three cheers to you for having the tenacity to hang in there.

That top picture wasnt even the most current when it was stolen. I had DLIDFIS installed, with 3 MSD Blaster 2 coils, the fuel lines were cleaned up on the firewall, I had repainted all the radiator shrouds and the entire water pump/front cover assembly, etc.

Its freakishly odd how many times I come within days of actually selling this car and then someone posts to this thread and makes me want to keep it all over again. I wish you guys would just let it die sometimes... Ive given up on this thing, I cant even afford my daily driver, let alone a project car of this size.

You should've gone all vigilante on those guys at the bonfire though... im sure if you went in there strapped you could kick some ass but then you would seep down to their level... Good job keeping your cool sucks how much they stole =(

koireland 03-21-05 06:38 PM

Any updates on the lawful side of things? Hate to bring up such a old post but man i just had to.

z-beater 03-21-05 07:43 PM

Man...I must say that you had an awesome car I would sue the living he** out of them. A few words of advice. When you take it to the mazda dealership make sure that they know that your car was your pride and joy and that you want it restored back to the previous condition. Quite a few years back my father picked up a camaro and got an extremely good deal on it. The insuranc comp didn't believe that he got the car so chea so he had to prove a reason why he got it at such a good deal.(by the way the car was a 95 z28 vert that was near perfect amd 15k on a brand new(not rebuilt) 350) This is what he did. He went in to a shop and expressed to the employee that this car was his baby and he wanted to make sure that she was in perfect condition. Money was not an obstacle he just wanted a mint car. Let me tell you they ate this right up and before you knew it there was over 4k in repairs. Mind you the car was damn near perfect. If you can accomplish this succesfully then I am sure that you car rebuild one hell of a car.

Good luck and killer story.

nick1 04-09-05 12:15 AM

lol!!!! the thread is back.....

man that car had the cleanest engine bay ever!

RotorMotorDriver 04-10-05 09:52 PM

Thanks guys. I spent a lot of time cleaning it, lol. I still have the thing, everytime I get close to selling it, something always gets in the way or comes up and I just cant do it. Maybe it will get its T2 engine someday afterall.

Does this thread hold the record for the longest running, the most number of hits, and the largest number of replies?

How many TII conversions have been done in the mean time?

Shamrock.James 04-11-05 06:08 AM

LOL - not suprised the cops didn't do shit - if i was you i would call a drug bust ont he palce when they all get taken down to the station for questioning go to thier house with a friend or two and raid it for EVERY piece of car equipment there. - and other shiny things ;)

PaulFitzwarryne 04-11-05 07:29 AM

Let's get real. If it was a open and shut case the police would have charged someone. It helps keep up their ratio of cases successfully solved.

The fact that no one was charged implies there was a problem making out a case. It sounds like group house, who do you select to charge? "The car was just dumped there officer in a stripped condition! Its not our house so thought the owner would fix it. Have not been down the back for weeks so never knew it was there, this is why I said go ahead and search because I did not know it was there. I was at a party when it got stolen and my friends will support me. "

Without direct proof against a specific individual, the chances of conviction are small so police may think its a waste of tax payers money to pursue it. If they had prevous convictions they would know the system and admit nothing.

I am just pointing out getting a criminal conviction is not that easy, inspite of what you may personally think about their guilt.

RotorMotorDriver 04-18-05 09:24 AM

Sorry to bring this back yet again, but I just wanted to say that I understand the legal system all too well - Military Police, working towards civilian law enforcement. Hence me not complaining about the outcome other than the fact that it pisses me off - a lot.

Someday I might do something with the car (turbo swap keeps popping in my head), but with my level of income (or lack there of), it will sit for another two years gathering dust, mildew, mold, and whatever else. It will be like my Car Domain page all over again by the time I try and restore it again...

Basically, in the most simple of terms (forgetting the stereo, brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, etc), the plan would be to finish the engine bay painting (I stripped it of everything and sanded it all down to repaint it), paint all the components going back in, and re-install. Sort out the fuel system and run those lines, surge tank, pumps, etc. Then while I cant afford the engine, I piece together the interior pieces and the body again (needs two fenders and two doors now, as well as a complete lock set). Then, eventually paint the body and new doors and fenders to match the engine bay. Swap out the guts and door panels from my doors to the new ones (my window regulators worked damn it!). Then, maybe someday there will be a TII engine under the hood of my nicely painted and cleaned car. Too bad its all a big pipe dream for now.
