recirculating air button on my 85 doesnt work

well out of the blue today I stared messing with the fan controls for the interior which I havent really touched for a month ro so.

Well a month ago, the electric recirculating air button worked fine, but now its completely dead. The light doesnt come on or anything. Any ideas to what might have happened? This is an 85 by the way. I also allready checked the fuses in the fuse box.

yeah, i have an 85 as well, and my light comes on when you press the button, but once you let your finger off of it, the light goes back off. it also works, but you have to hold it there... weird. it has been like this ever since i got it... i would also like to know how to fix it.

hornbm,
I noticed a similar problem today. NONE of the buttons on my '84 will light up or work. The directional controls seem stuck on the "heat" position (not the temperature dial or fan dial; those still work.)

I'm thinking this happened when I blew the fuse for the rear defogger, while messing with my power window switches a couple days ago. It might serve you to check out the fuse box for a blown link. Otherwise, it's probably something in the switch box itself, which I have heard nothing on how to repair. I'd start with the fuses.

hmm I'll check the fuses again. My modle is a GS, so I only have computer controls for the recirculating air and a/c. Although the ac doesnt work that doesnt really bother me considering I havent wired it up yet.

My bad man, I must have skipped that last line. If the problem is the control itself, I have a spare control box like the one you have, out of a GS w/ air conditioning. The only thing it is missing is the plastic/rubber part on the end of the sliding switch. It has the wiring harness and everything.

I'd check all your fuses again, then pull the console out of the dash and clean the connections.
