rebuild question

So eye go through the forums like everyday just reading up random info cause eye love to know anything and everything there is to know, what’s all this eye read about being able to use 18 ga wire for the water jacket orings? I’m obviously not going that route with my build but does that actually work? Eye know there is a Mcmaster-Carr part number for them but eye don’t know them :/ rebuilding my 13b is it true that 12a and 13b use the same size water jacket o rings?

Can you post where you saw that you could use wire in place of the o-rings? Sounds like a really bad idea.

If PeeJay says it can be then trust him. He's been around a while and knows what he is going. I'd just get factory one myself.

Ewe should just buy the seals, parts don't cost that much (couldn't resist ?).
When parts are scarce, making do works, but these are easy to find.

Sounds like a backyard remedy for getting a motor running when you don't really care about leaks or longevity, like rebuilding a motor at the track so you can race the next day and rear it apart again when you get home. If you aren't in a rush, buy the right parts.

So i'm trying to get my ducks in a row for if it comes down to it. I'm trying to buy the Mazdatrix rebuild dvd, but the site doesn't load for me. Anywhere else to grab a copy or get a download file sent to me? This is what i'm getting:

The site is secure. Are using your own PC/Phone or a company PC/Phone? You might try add the site to your secure list. You can also try Chrome. Try checking SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 under the Advanced Settings.

It's a Gov. computer. I tried on my phone too, but it won't even load. Maybe I'll try my computer and see if that matters. These computers are pretty locked down in the desert.

You can buy Viton O-ring cord from McMaster-Carr cheaper than 18 gauge wire, and it lasts a lot longer.

It's something like 10 feet of 2.4mm Viton for the inners and 12 feet of 2.0mm neoprene for the outers. Very cheap. Cheap enough that you should buy a bunch extra just in case you screw up somehow.
