rear wheel alignment
 

so, my rear axle housing is bent causing my tires to be eaten up in 4,000 miles. visibly,both rear tires are about 1.5degrees negaive. i removed the axle and found that along with he camber i have a total toe OUT of .75",thats alot,and toe out is very undesireable. so,i,m going to fix it usimg the process of shrinking (heat it with a torch). my dad has industial experience straightening shafts and tubes to within .001"(no,not a typo). i have experience in automotive tire alignment. my question is,for those of you who have bent your housings, ow did you make your measurments? i have a camber gage, and i nkow how to get individual toe with th0e axle on the car but how do you get individual toe with it off the car?

my plan is to use my back patio which is extr0emely level. mark the spot im going to put my jackstands and set the axle on top of it with the jacks supporting the housing in similar plces on each side. use my camber gage for the camber, nd for toe just rotate the whole housing assembly90 degrees and use te camber gage. thoughts? any other bits of advice or storys of experience would be appreciated.

i think rotating the housing 90 degrees and using the camber gauge is the easiest way. BTW instead of heating the thing you can actually just bend it, back in the Pro7 days my buddy used to just chain the diff to an I beam and put floor jacks on each end...

i could bend it. but i dont have anything to chain it to...
