Rear Sway Bar Experience
 

Does anyone have direct comparison experience between the RacingBeat, Suspension Techniques and stock rear sway bars? I'm looking for a little less roll stiffness in the rear suspension and wondering if either of these adjustable bars will actually go softer than the stock bar.

i have the suspension tech front and rear waiting to be installed in the spring...i'll let you know then ;)

Anybody know of a bolt on stiff as a rock rear sway bar or a swap from another type of car?
I need to be able to kick the rear when I wiggle my nose!

the ST is stiffer, the RB and the ST are both adjustible, but the RB is "tuned" more for street/autoX apps.


I really like my ST rear on my 1st gen.

You may also want to consider going to a tri-link with pan-hard.

Just remove your front bar.

Are you racing, or just long-pinky-fingernail-asshat-street driving? I doubt it makes any difference on the street, but I run sans rear bar everywhere that I've been so far, but I also have slightly better distribution than some other folks. Late 84 and all 85 cars don't have the same problem because the pickup points were moved a mm or two, and the push/oversteer magically went away. My dad's '85 GSL Spec7 has had a bar on it since Day 1 and actually feels almost as good as my car despite having half the front camber and absolutely no rear camber (it used to have positive on one wheel... thank you Porta-Power!).

It's driven on the street and I don't drive like a maniac. My engine makes about 200hp though and it's really easy to slide the rear end out if I push it too hard around a corner. I'd like to be able to have more confidence in the rear end.

Wider and or stickier tires in the rear can give you some of the understeer back.

To an extent. It will also make the snap oversteer worse though when it does let go. At least I can catch it when it goes now.

Just pull off the rear sway-bar and have a test drive. Cost ya nothing :bigthumb:

yes removing the rear bar helps the handling a bit, I ran mine both ways, With the bar, like i said, you could dia-in oversteer

Well, I took off the rear bar and drove the car around this weekend. It sticks like glue! There's still oversteer, but it's not nearly as easily induced. If you're unhappy with excessive oversteer, I'd definitely recommend trying this.
