Rear cargo padding thickness

I am remaking the rear cargo pad since its all tore up. I am using a sheet of 1/8" rubber (duro 60A) and the old mat as a template. How thick it the stock felt backing. Is it the thickness of how much the spare tire sticks up? Is it normal to see the hump of the spare tire in the carpet..
Rk.

The hump is visible normally. The thickness is about 1/2 in. of that padding and the pad does not go all the way to edge of the mat, stops about 3/4 in. in from the edges. Cant remember if its on the spare area or not. Will have to check and report back.

My aus deliered 85 has at least 1/2" of hemp/horse hair looking crap on the back of the vinyl mat. Horrible stuff once it starts "shedding"
ill see if i can get a pic later.

It is "jute" and is shaped around the spare wheel. Mine is shedding too. I've got one of the shed that I will measure if I get a chance.

When installed, there is no real spare wheel bump on mine, but our aussie delivered 84-85 models had a space saver spare tyre and so it sits very low in the spare wheel well.

i think its meant that the Jute should be thick enough so that it is flat around the spare. in practice its "flat" spare is usually visible to an extent

extra points for listing the parts that fell off in the pics

That is such a beautiful low km example. I can see a loose screw on the boot carpet in one pic but can't see the missing parts and it's frustrating the hell out of me! The only bits I can't see is the wheel brace/toolkit.

Actually, screw tho photos now. Not sure i feel comfortable posting them up when you are scrutinising the flaws in an example like that.

that screw is siting there, and then you can see the dome light lens fell off in another pic. its pretty funny (but totally normal!) that stuff is falling off the car at that low of a mileage

i think the funny part is that they left those pictures in the ad. i would have put the screw back. someone was in a hurry. i don't know about where you are, but in the US every Rx8 ad seems to be as the gas station filling up...
