Rear axel complete, how much is too much?

I've found a complete 83 GSL axel with disk brakes at a junk yard. But I think that they are asking to much. How much should I expect to pay for a complete axel and disc brakes?

My goal is to add limited slip rear end with disc brakes to my 80SA.

150$ ish. Depending on condition.

Local yard gets 100 for them.

I went to a yard a few weeks ago and they wanted $700 and I had to pull it., I laffed at the guy.

Thanks, this yard wanted $400 and they would give me a $25 discount if I pulled it. I'll keep shopping.

Keep Looking

Yeah, $150ish is about right. I added and 83 GSL rearend to my 85 GS a couple of years ago and that is what I paid.

BTW, isn't there some issue with brake line thread sizes between pre-83 and 83,84,85 cars. You might want to research this, but I may be remembering it wrong. It's been a couple of years since I did my research.

79 has a differnt thread than 81 and later.....
the rest of the years are the same if i remeber correctly.

dont forget 84-85 rear ends are a little differnt than pre 84 rear ends.

I guess what you really should ask yourself is how much are you willing to pay fo rit?

pip12434 12-03-04 09:09 PM

i paid $100 for mine. It's an SA80 so i got the Rx7.com brake line kit which has course threads for the body and and fine threads for the rear end. Good value at only $100

All right...I admit it...I over did the smiley's. I'll settle down. Sorry for being a jackass. I apologise.

150 dollars at the most...for a pull it yourself junk yard. Maybe 2 or 250 for a rear end pulled FOR you. PS: I bought a complete running 85 GSL at an auction for 350 dollars...pulled and swapped the LSD rear (with my standard rear) and a bunch of other good small parts. Turned around and sold the whole car (smogged) car for 1200 dollars. FYI

Brianhsval 12-04-04 04:14 AM

$100 and they pulled mine.

mckinneyml 12-04-04 01:17 PM

I would be willing to pay $100 to 175. So I just need to keep shopping, it sounds like there out there. Thanks!

Ive got one in the back of my 83 GSL with about 110K original miles on it you can have for $150 plus shipping - The car comes with it free!

I paid $200 for mine, plus brake discs and new hardlines. That's in Canuck bucks though, so at the time, I paid around $150 US.
