Hey, he takes a joke! :p: I almost threw a smiley face in that last post to show my humor, but I decided to see what you would do instead. :D I actually wish I had enough motivation to strip one of my cars and get rid of it. Im too lazy though, lol

was it a rust bucket? Doesn't look too bad from the pics.

You have to look close to see it but on the left side you can see the Rust where it was hit one time, and not repaired very well. Add to that No title and it was hit in the rear and the passenger rear quarter.

But it will live on, As part of cars all across this country.

What parts are currently available from your (4) '79s.

I'm in market for A/C components.

Thanks

Hades12 06-14-05 01:19 PM

I am not currently parting any 79's, I do have a compressor and Lines from a 79 but no clue if they are any good.

I have read that the 79 used different line fittings than the later years and are more prown to leak. So you may want to change it over to a later year AC setup.

Thanks Matthew.

Glad to be a help. :bigthumb:

when are you starting on repairing your rust?

bliffle 06-14-05 03:53 PM

How 'bout the windshield?

B

Hades12 06-14-05 04:44 PM

I have not decided on it. I have two more and Have not ever needed one or sold one. So I kind of hate to have it sitting around for the rest of time.

Gag_Halfront 06-14-05 04:54 PM

Heh. I thought this was going to be another one of those "I can't get my car to run so I'm going to say that it's going to the crusher to see if that will get you to help me" threads. Glad I was wrong.

Say, the arches of the wheel wells look like they're in good shape (at least, the driver's side does). Would you consider sawzalling a good chunk of quarter off so that I can repair my rusty wheel well lips?

Hades12 06-14-05 05:01 PM

Sure, Take a look at what I just sold to Capt Murph https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/cutting-out-wheel-well-430223/

Pm me and we can figure out what you need.

rotaryxperamental 06-14-05 06:14 PM

How long did it take you to get the shell to it's curent point??

I'm soon embarking on the task because of a honda, totaled the entire front end supports and all.

Hades12 06-14-05 09:42 PM

I picked up the car in november of 03.

I tried to sale it whole until about April 04. Then started parting it. Finished and put it on the Trailer two weeks ago.

I would say 10 good hours to get it to that point. maybe 20 if it is your first time.
What really helped was I went ahead and put wood blocks under it, so I did not have to jack it up each time I worked on it.

rotaryxperamental 06-14-05 11:43 PM

Hey thanks, Just going for the vitals, engine/tranny, suspension, rear glass, tail-lights, seats, doors(power windows, new 83 doesn't have).

Again thanks,
Eric

WAIT! don't crush it yet.... I think I need that part. Not that one. No, no, to the left of the center. Regardless.

Hades12 07-16-05 10:03 AM

Hades12 07-20-05 02:42 PM

Both are now gone. Some people picked them up Sunday. Made $40 for both of them.

Atl_FB82 07-20-05 08:48 PM

Damn...that looks like it had an A/C relay too. I need one....I'm in ATL too.

cosmicbang 07-21-05 08:44 AM

Don't you salvage the lock sets? What about door handles? By the way, new bronze tinted windshields are nearly impossible to find, in case you ever run across one.

Hades12 07-21-05 10:06 AM

I was going to get the lock set but the Rear was not any good and the door ones were soso. I did keep the ignition with key, it may come in handy some day. I also keept the wheels and the stearing Box, The box was good and tight. I had some handles already and was out of time so I let them go with the car.

I generaly throw away all the AC stuff, Never sold any of it except for one Compressor.
