RB road-race header......

3 Attachment(s)
I've had one of these laying around for a long time, and am trying to determine what exactly I have

Based on the pics, can someone confirm this is a Racing Beat road race header for an FB? I can take measurements if that helps :)

Thanks much :icon_tup:

Rich, up until recently there were only two road race headers, the 12A and 13B. i see now that they have an S4 and S5 one, but its the same part just with whatever sensor is needed

As long as the flange is 12a, that's what it looks like to me.

In my experience RB headers swap directly between FB and SA. This only verifies what j9fd3s has stated.

The welds look too lumpy and the stud holes in the flange look poorly cut. Also there is a weld joint at the upper curve of the rear pipe.

At first I thought is was an RE header due to the extra weld joint. But then why use an RB flange?

In my opinion this is either a really old RB header like from the 80s or it's a custom job welded by someone using RB flanges. Or it could have possibly began life as a 13B header and was converted over to a 12A by someone.

you said it's been lying around for a while, but do you remember where it came from?

i ask because i (like Jeff) question whether it left Anaheim like that. it seems like something someone modified at some point. it's a bit hard to say whether it's for an FB or not. my gut tells me it should still fit an FB though.

Looks like one of the Disassembled road race header kits, mostly because the welds do not look like something they would let leave their shop.

Agreed. I've seen several collected and road race headers from RB and the welds always look top notch and there is never an extra weld joint on the rear pipe curve. I also agree that it should still fit an FB. But it needs to be test fitted first obviously.

Look inside the pipes. See if there is any carbon buildup or rust.

at first i thought it may have been one of the disassembled kits, too, but the absence of the abrupt curve off the engine flange for the rear rotor was a dead giveaway that something was amiss. whether bought or built, it's pretty much a certainty that this header has been modified either way.

If its for a 12a sell it to me Rich ! I'll re weld that beast and strap it on my Montego blue FB !

GoodfellaFD3S 12-29-12 02:39 PM

^I'll check fitment and let ya know :)

nice.

GoodfellaFD3S 01-08-13 08:55 PM

It bolts right up to an FD block, so seems like it's for a 13B......

FCinWV 01-08-13 10:38 PM

Gah..thats okay... Josh and I decided I should go turbo 12a anyway
