Angry RB Mufflers STINK!!! (Pix)

Today we installed an RB Muffler in my car and noticed that a freshly installed RB Muffler tends to smell like burnt paint when they are first installed
82Transam said it'll go away...i'm sure it will...

Anyways, I took some pics of Inittab's and 82Transam's car as well as mine...

Very nice. I haven't heard of RB exhaust systems smelling weird before.

I was thinking about buying a racing beat exaust. But smelling bad right after installing them is that normal. And did the smell go away.

It was fun to watch the cardboard protective sleeves fly off when she started up.

Them's some nice rides. I'm not sure about painting the wheels though, but I'm a bit partial to that style.
I recently had my exhaust done, and the flowmaster muffler smelled a little wierd for about 50 miles. I think that's prabably normal. Maybe just burning off the acid wash used after welding.

mine and inittab's are...82transam uses his as his daily driver...

82transam is also working on another 7 thats tucked away inside that shed you see in the pix...its coming along NICELY...

whats funny is that i thought my exhaust had a small leak...but when we pulled out the old muffler, i was curious to see the difference...we turned the car over with no muffler and it pretty much sounded the same

once the rb muffler went on the car hummmmmmmed like never before...i love the note...

Is he going to put the LE rims on the project?

I don't think it is a small leak when it sounds the same without the muffler. When I cracked the pipe just behind the cat (punched out) on mine it sounded the same at idle but once I started accelerating and especially past 4k it really roared Needless to say not many people ran next to me for too long up on the highway, hehe.

the smell will go away once the paint on the pipes leading into the muffler burns off. Mine took a few days..

thanks for the compliments guys. Yea, its just the paint burning off the pipes. The Red 83 S is mine, the brown 85 GS is inittabs, and the 84 SE is bizarros.
Mike, unless I sell them the LE wheels will be on my project. I'll start posting pics of my project when I get a little farther along, I've just started welding patches in on it.
Hector, did we get any shots of the old muffler that had JB weld over the hole? If not I'll take one, its still laying here.

I like the painted rim look

Mine badly need to be repainted! But those cars are in really nice shape. Good work guys

If only my car's paint shone that much... *sigh* I guess I'll have to save up for a paint job!

Have fun with your 7s guys, and good work on the RB Exhaust bizarro My friend Eric installed his a few days ago. He dropped by yesterday and it's awesome. He had a shot muffler and a couple exhaust leaks before.. so the sound is MUCH better. I'm still running stock right now becuase I'm almost too poor to just finish getting it on the road!

Yes, the RB exhuast smell bad for a couple of minutes. Then the smell goes away, but the Performance stays.

Nice, but is the driver taking those pictures? Looks like it Nice to see a string of FBs curving the roads. Over here, I've been the only FB in the pack on our drives. Hopefully that will be fixed soon as I finally found a local that was actually interested in doing stuff like that.
