RB header

does anyone know if by chance the 12a racing beat header comes ceramic coated or not? it kinda looks liek it on their site

*shrug* all i know is that they are on back order for 3 to 6 weeks...

Which header?

I have the 12a Road Race header (the dissasembled street port exhaust system part).

Although the full kit comes painted black, the individual header alone is polished, near chrome.

The dual center section is still black though.

so its just polished? i mean, i guess if it was coated it would be mentioned on the site for selling purposes

Thats my understanding. THe stuff is beefy though, it wont break or burn down.

The black stuff is pianted, i'm pretty sure.

well, i want it to last, andi can get it coated for another 60-80 bucks.. thats what im thinking because i want it to last + keep some of the heat down

hmmm...the problem with the heat is the rotary engine produces A LOT of it.

I have a RB header for my '83 GSL (12a) and it's just polished. I would say invest in a heat shield and/or electric fan. RB rep for the headers are awesome. I haven't heard anything going wrong with them.

I just reciently purchased the RB street port exhaust system heaber all the way back to the muffler. I just wrapped my header with header wrap. Not the most attractive thing but if your worried about exess heat under hood, I personally think you cant really get anny better for the price.

RB does make bullet proof header!!! The only thing with the exhaust wrap on a street car is the thing will rust from the inside out eventually....all of the heat is contained in the header and eventually breaks it down, this is what I experienced on my race car. This process took like 8 years though!!! I know RB does not ceramic coat them but you can get them done after the fact. I went to a stainless steel header, no rust, 7lbs.!!!! half the weight of steel, but you still get the heat.

definately ceramic coating before install. i know what header wrap does, my dad has a 87 rx7 with a chevy 4.3 swap, and he used header wrap to keep the heat down... it works, but i saw what i didnt to the headers.. so.. im not wasting my time with that, and i dont think anyone else should either..
