Radio slot cup holders on e-bay!

Found these on e-bay and thought someone else might be interested too. I ordered one so I will let you know how they fit. Sure beats the fold up cup holders.

those are pretty nice! If only I didn't have my gauges in there...I should get a pillar pod or 3

ZeikHunter 04-04-06 10:00 AM

RXFILE7 04-04-06 10:31 AM

Wow, those look really cool. Please let us know when you get yours and how it fits! If possible, take pictures! :)

Thanks,
Tammie

Won't fit.

I thought of something like that right after I got my car, but there's not enough room in front of the shift.

OnlyOnThurs 04-04-06 11:02 AM

^^^Yeah MY BIG GULP would get in the way of my shifting........(Shifts in to 1st) SPLASH!!!!!

Jsolos 04-04-06 11:47 AM

OK, I`ll post an update an pics as soon as it is installed. I`ll do a few tests and let you know if you have to trade in your big gulp for dual 16 oz.

woodonastick 04-04-06 04:59 PM

those look exactly like the cup holders from a ford tauras

85-GSL 04-04-06 05:51 PM

yah i wonder if thats going to become a knuckle buster for a week or so, get pics if possible :)

sumyongi 04-04-06 06:20 PM

I've got these on my RX. They work fairly well with everything I do. They will not fit the Big Gulps though... just regular Sonic-size drinks. The problems I come up with them are...
- if it is installed underneath the radio like on mine the cup sometimes punches the radio buttons and gets annoying;
- when shifting "face and furious" a spill might happen;
- and the holder above the cup holder is only large enough for my clip-on sunglasses... not enough for much else.

Besides that, this is a much better alternative than anything else I have ever seen... it looks nice, works well for regular size cups, cheap, and much better than your in between your legs.
Just my two cents.

By the way, if you are searching for these on ebay here's a tip... These will fit all single Dins so you don't have to buy the car specific ones. For example the seller might be selling one that "fits a BMW" for $350 and one that "fits a Daewoo" for $14. They are all the same though. Just find the cheapest one no matter what car it says it fits in.

RotorMotorDriver 04-04-06 06:22 PM

Cool idea. The other thing you need to watch is the "lip" around the bezel on the center consoles. The opening in the center console part itself (the plastic part), isnt EXACTLY 1 DIN wide, so you may have to trim to get that to fit properly, then again, maybe not. Good luck and let us know!

looks nice, but I wouldn't spend 30 on it, maybe 15

will wait for pics!

OK, here's an update. I got the holders yesterday and got them installed. It was a pretty fast set up. I just cut the plastic face plate they put in when the previous owner changed the sound system. From there I attached the tray to the sides of the radio using the existing screw holes. Put the console back together and DUH! The detachable face plate on my radio sticks out too far! The cups hit the buttons and I have to jam them in diagonally. So I will either have to swap the two and put the cup holder at the top (it seems to stick out far enough at the bottom to clear the radio). Or I will have to mount it a 1/2 inch forward in the the slot. Anyway, back to that sometime this week.

So here's what I think. Overall, not a bad solution for a car with no cup holder. Fit & finish is a little rough (but that's what you get for $18. Like someone pointed out, they have different prices so shop around for the cheapest auction ). The top drawer is only big enough for change. The cup holders will hold a medium size coffee cup but no big gulps.

I'll post more when I get the problem worked out...

OK, here's an update. I swapped the radio and the cup holder and that works great! The bottom of the cup holder overlaps the radio but doean't touch it. It also has more room since the fan and temp controls aren't that sensitive to have a cup against them. So all in all, it's a good solution...

just make sure nothing spill on your deck ... also i'm not sure if this will work on manual cars, it seems awfly close to the bottom of that and with stick shift, you have to add the space of your hand in there too

Squashmantaylor 07-04-15 11:05 PM

I know this is an older thread but this is the best help/idea for cup holders I've seen. Just bought this item on eBay, I'm sure it'll fit and I can't wait to get it in and installed. I will also share pics once I get it installed and during the installation process. I'll also update if what I found doesn't fit as well.
