radiator help

I can't figure out what this part is. It's on the bottom of the radiator close to the middle. it appears to be made of plastic. Anyone know what it's for?

It is probably the drain cock. If it looks kinda like a wing nut. Turn it counter clock wise and coolant should start to come out.

Thanks for the answer. It's the simple things that sometimes confuse me. I didn't recognize it because it looks like it broke off.

The cheap plastic draincocks have a bad habit of aging and breaking. One cannot tighten them too much or the nylon shreads. Mine broke off also. The wings had broken off with a large chunk of the threaded piece stuck in the radiator. Mine was so bad it broke when I tried to get it off. I had not overtightened. I got a drill extractor (reverse threaded drill bit) to get it out. I was afraid it would just get pushed in further as I tried to get hold of it. Not to worry though as it would not push in further and simple pressure on the center of the shreaded plastic draincock was enough force to extract it without having to actually drill into it. Be sure and use a nylon (OEM) draincock as it will expand and contract. From now on I will just replace it every 5 yrs. I keep an extra on hand.
