S4/S5 Radiator + Taurus E-Fan =WIN

rxtasy3 05-09-10 05:40 PM

when u say "with an e-fan" do u mean it comes with one? otherwise, many ppl use the taurus fan, v6 i believe. i'm using one off a mitz galant, 93 i think it was. that's the best i could find in the dimensions i needed and would work, considering the rad i'm using. as for what to get as for the rad, just get what fits ur yr model.

When u guys say Taurus u mean ford Taurus??
If so what year and model Taurus?I have an 84 gsl that I'm starting to mod.
Jeezus I saw ur thread on how to clean ur engine and all I have to say is that my girlfriend is not to happy with u :) she knows where I'll b for the next couple of weekends. I want both the fan and the rad to look good. Aluminum or something like that.
Thanx for imput guys.

Eric.

It happens :) Aluminum radiators are semi-hard to get for our cars, sometimes
they are on ebay. I would go with a 2nd gen radiator, but be wary. Can't
remember if it is the S4 or S5, but one of them has the radiator cap on the
radiator, the other on the water pump. Obviously get the one with the cap on the
radiator.

And this should help with your Taurus fan:

I found this. What u guys think.

That radiator looks nice, but the fan is a single speed, the Taurus pulls/pushes more air in both modes than that one.

I think for that price you could get a nice Koyo Radiator, not sure.

Also, Jeezus, the S4 has the radiator cap on the thermostat housing, while the S5 has the cap mounted on the radiator. The only problem is that the S5 radiator is tall so if you mount it angled the cap will not clear the hood.

SPAL fans are awesome. Currently using 16" Spal 3000cfm fan with a PWR 57mm Series 2 radiator.

Perfect combination.

mr2 fans!

and unless you have the beehive oil cooler then this wont work. if you have the front mount oil cooler then, where is it going to go?

just move the oil cooler in front of the radiator like the se. and just get 2 new lines from summit. like i am doing on my turbo fb.

Portland82GSL 05-12-10 01:40 PM

rotary-works.com sells an FB aluminum radiator that comes with an e-fan. not too expensive either.

Derale 17" fan, custom Wizard Racing aluminum radiator...now, I freeze my butt off in winter since the coolant water never gets hot enough for the heater to work right.

Actually, you can use either S4 OR S5. If you source one from a TII, the fill cap is in the center of the radiator. Last time I checked, you can get Koyos for about $150. Ford Taurus E-Fan from a mid to late 90s with the 3.8L only. You can pick them up from Pull-A-Part for $11. Those fans are two speed. I run mine on low with a 160* thermostat. My water temps after a hard pull from 1rst thru 3rd, never get over 175*. At 15psi I am almost 400 rwhp. Mods in the sig.

Efans are a great upgrade, especially if you run autocrosses. Biggest difference is in 1st and 2nd gears.

I used fans from a 1st gen MR2 and they work great.

Nuff Said... I will be buying this after next years taxes with there oil cooler.

mar3 05-14-10 02:44 PM

Bottom tube won't work with the factory bottom radiator hose....but I had to pay twice that much to get my custom radiator built from my drawings that does use all of the factory bits in all the correct places. ;)

challer2000 05-14-10 03:37 PM

What’s different about it? The only thing I see diffrent is the bottom hose is not angled  would I just need a diffrent hose... But thanks for the heads up! guess I'll have to find something else.

louiethecat 05-15-10 10:08 AM

hey mar3 custom radiator??
very interested in hearing about that.
i have done some upgrades to the 7 and checked the radiator and it's going.
need to buy one very soon so not only do i need it to b efficient i wanted to look real nice(racey)i like the look of the aluminum once.looking to spend between 3-4 hundred on a radiator and e- fan.

DenCon 05-15-10 11:32 AM

What about pusher fans? There is tons of space in front of the rad for them.
