Racing Seats?

I know a few of you guys or gals have racing seats in your cars, I am wondering where did you get them. I am looking for some racing seats to put in my car. I want either plain black ones or black and blue. Can anybody help? I know it will be hard to find seats that fit straight in with out modifying the brackets. I was just wondering if anybody knew any sites that had seats that actually fit? Thanks, Josh.

I bought mine on eBay, just search race seats, make sure they are legal for race use if you are planning on racing. sliders are available to most cars and seats.

Did yours fit right in and how much did you pay?

Only need one, I got a Sparco for $300 brand new, I'm not using sliders just permanently placed for me...

Best hint, buy a reputable name, most race seats aren't allowed to fold ie: fixed back.

I recently put some Sparco's in my 7. They are almost exactly the same width as early Miata seats. They fit pretty well.

i've sat in the same thing, or atleast they seemed like the same thing and they're really not that bad, you could even get some foam inserts i guess or something if it doesn't feel comfortable.

Well I am lookinf for some that dont have the set back. I can't sit straight up for a long period of time. How much were those Sparco's and how much did you modify them to fit?

I'm not sure on the retail, I got mine with Sparco runners (noy using them in the car) for $400AUD :icon_tup: :)
which was a major bargain. I am using factory Rx7 runners with 6mm plates welded on one runner of each seat. it would all be reverse for you since i am RHD. Does your car have a hump on the trans tunnel on right or left hand side? The side with the hump is a bit harder but not impossible.

Wow, your car looks great from what I can see here. MORE PICS?

The bump is onthe passenger side, right for me.

Your drivers' side will be easy, you will probaly need spacers or brackets to level your passenger side up. I will draw up a bit of a diagram.

The red bits are the plates you will need to weld on. you will most likely have to drill one new hole on the other runners

southernrunner 04-06-06 12:27 AM

Ight, thanks. I have the interior all gutted. I am trying to get my car running by the 30th but I doubt that will happen. I don't even have the engine yet. But I want to know my interior plans so when I get there I can just do it.

southernrunner 04-06-06 01:11 AM

The only thing is I dont have a welder.

Use JB Weld!
