Racing beat seat covers?
 

Hey guys.... Im debating on getting my leather seats recovered or recovering my cloth ones.. Im actually leaning twards the cloth. Has anybody revovered their seats using the racing beat seat cover kit. I really want everything to look as oem as possible. Anybody with pictures?

This question comes up a couple times per year. The ones offered by racing beat are the best OEM looking replacement covers I've saw. The piping (the cord used between the pannels) is fractionally sized instead of metric and as such slightly larger in diameter. Other than that, the color and texture of the materials and the overall look / feel is very close to OEM. They are good quality reasonably priced too. Seatz mfg actually supply the covers that Racing Beat sell.

Oh do I have an answer for you. If you are looking to install them yourself, Dont buy them. These are meant for upholster shops to install. I tried and Im pretty savvy around most anything on our cars. Did not go well. So I took them to a local guy and he charged me a 100 bucks a piece to install them. They are epic.

$500 total invested. But I highly doubt you will get it done cheaper just having a shop do them completely.

They are more aggressive than the stock seat now. More like a racing seat. The hug wayy more. Perhaps its how the local did them. Either way I am super satisfied.

It would be nice to have a well written how-to on installing the RB covers. This isn't the first time
I've heard someone say they had to hand them off to a pro to get installed correctly.

Seems to me you would want to completely redo the foam while its off and that can be tricky as
well.

That is exactly why I handed them to a pro. Even if the foam is completely intact, years of body weight and constant in and outs on the outer sides compress the foam. A good upholstery shop has a steam machine with a sharp nozzle that brings the foam back to life if possible. My seats are now possibly the most comfortable rx7 seats Ive ever had my ass in.

The RB kit does come with hog ring clips and the pliers. However when I presented the tool and clips to the upholstery guy, he kinda giggled. He said they were kinda cheap pliers and that the clips weren't exactly ideal. There are tips and tricks to upholstery that requires experience. I tried DIYs and videos. Its overwhelming. I painted my car Montego Blue, revamped the entire car myself, but seat upholstery.... I surrender.

I had a quote to recover my factory seat in leather for $700. Not bad compared to RB price plus install.

I installed the drivers side myself and had an upholstery shop install the passenger side...

Are those RB covers?

yes, there custom which is like an 50 dollars, keep in mine that although they look the same gs gsl seat are slightly different, this for example is a gsl...

Yea they do look bad ass.. Anybody have pics with the cloth covers?
