Racing Beat intake housing...
 

I just bought my Racing Beat Street Port Exhaust system along with a Racing Beat air intake housing and K&N air filter for my '85 RX7. Upon examining the Racing Beat housing, there is only one opening on the base of the housing (for the breather, which is optional). On the factory housing, there are many tubes connected to the bottom of it. Do I simply ignore these tubes and just put on the Racing Beat housing?

And... could you please spare some tips on installing the Street Port Exhaust System?

When you put the header on, you usually have to eliminate the air pump and the converter and the rat's nest. Two of the air ports in the stock air cleaner are air pump inlets and outlets - no longer needed, Another is an air temp thermoswitch thingy... no longer needed.

not being too familiar with car terminology (just started being a huge car fan) what's a "rat's nest"?

yea, i noticed there is a tube that pumps in air and one that sucks out air... i want to attach the tube that puts in air onto the bottom of the RB housing, think that's a good idea? that means the air coming from that tube will bypass the filter...

rats nest= the smog crap on top of the motor... all the little silanods and metal "rats nest" of vacume lines

omg... it feels like the racing beat housing is actually taking away my power... i accelerate much faster with the factory housing... what's wrong?!

Hey fullsmoke, did you get the acv block off plate too? Just a suggestion. Btw, what year is it? N/M, didn't read the post right about the year.

sorry, i'm not very familiar with carbs... can you tell me where the avc plate is and what it does and how to take it off?

acv is the air control valve. it is what the air pump connects to to feed air to the cats or thermal reactor. RB sells a block off plate to cover the the acv when you remove the air pump from the engine.

with a bad solution in it for crankcase ventilation. Other than that, it tells you everything you need.

just hook the nipple from the oil fill tube to the nipple on the intake manifold. vented crank case.

And vacuum leak! A valve fitted in line minimizes this.

I've honestly never done that before.. whoops!

Missed this, it actually IS a small leak if your crankcase uses a fresh air inlet like it was designed. Or at least thats my personal experience... I had my fresh air inlet hooked up to a breather, with the vent tube ran to the intake manifold. It was indeed a vac leak, stepping my idle speed up around 200 rpm. Fitting the PCV valve from a late model kia almost totally eliminated it, while still giving me proper ventilation.
