Quick thoughts on Gas Tanks and inactivity

My car has been sitting since Spetember, wonder if im too late to save it from the almighty rust lord ?

It depends on what kind of temperature swings the car has experienced and if it sat outside or in a garage...big temp swings will introduce water into the most sealed of systems and get the rust started. If it's been mostly cold, put a disposable fuel filter in, fill the tank with some new gas and a fuel stabilizer and have at it...

Its been in the garage, but you got temperature swings from the season's changing... I will drain the gas on Tuesday (next day I work on it) and see what it looks like...

If it was running regularly before its September shutdown, you shouldn't have any rust problems...even the gas may still be useable...it's when it sits for years through -10 F to 115 F that you have to worry...

What got me to thinking about this is my 80 , me and jermey pulled the gas tank out. well actually Jermey did it, but anyways. The tank was pretty nasty and it had been driven around the block regularly, but no farther than 5 miles a week. and it ran fine? So dunno?

Does anyone make a replacement gas tank for our cars? Woulda plastic one like in the newer cars be lighter than the stock metal one?
