Quick stereo wiring help
I searched alittle and looked through the fsm with no luck. I need to know which color wires are the power and acc for an 85 base model? Thanks
|
|
Thanks but im terrible with these. So this means LW(blue white stripe) is acc and LY(blue yellow stripe) is power? I have 2 of each of these but i understand which ones it wouldnt be. Can anyone confirm if i have this correct and if not why so? - Nick

try testing the wires. the acc sould only have power when the key is on. The power should be on all the time. If you pull the fuse for the radio, you should have no power.
|
I would do that this second but i dont think i have a good battery in hand. I'll look around but pretty sure i dont.
|
then "boost" it, without starting. Or battery charger might work as well
|
Pretty sure my charger is around, i will have a looksee.

A blue wire goes from the ACC terminal on the ignition switch to the fuse box. It splits and comes out of the fuse box as a blue/white wire and a blue wire. The blue wire supplies power to the mirriors, the lighter and the AC circuit. The blue/white wire goes to the audio system and the antenna.
A Black/yellow and a Black/white wire go from the ON terminal of the ignition switch to the fuse box. The Black /yellow wire splits to several fuses and wires. It supplies power to the wipers, rear defroster and the AC. The Black/white wire also splits in the fuse box. It supplies power to the ignition, turn signals, hazards, meters, warning lights, back up lights, cruise control, fuel pump, windows, clock, buzzers, the charging circuit, and the emission control circuit. |

well if you have a harness to hook your stock plugs to, you should just have to match up wire colors... duh

I was with you from the start.
Tester is a good way. As well A blue wire goes from the ACC terminal on the ignition switch to the fuse box. It splits and comes out of the fuse box as a blue/white wire and a blue wire. With comments like scrappy's i wonder if he has ever put in an aftermarket stereo, let alone one in a 25 year old car. Wish I had the haynes handy, like its diagrams better. The way i see it is LW splits into RG which is the ACC signal going into the deck. LY is power. I could be wrong, my brain is fried from studying, and i freakin hate the FSM wiring diagrams. |

As well Good info With comments like scrappy's i wonder if he has ever put in an aftermarket stereo, let alone one in a 25 year old car. if you buy a harness, from say walmart, it clips into your fucking stock radio clips. then you will match the new wires with the wires from the deck harness. dont do it like a fucking oakie caveman and cut the harness but if for some strange reason it is cut, then use a test light |

Find me a plug and play harness adapter for any brand aftermarket deck for an 85 rx7. Clarion or Apline or Kenwood or even Sony or Pioneer.....
Its hard enough to find them for mid 90's imports such as mazda, and toyota. |

I guess Walmarts down there are fuckin sweet. They dont have jackall here (but we also cant buy bullets so thats a start.....).
Worked at an install/electronics shop for number of years and we could NEVER get early import wiring harness adapters from the distributers. GM, Dodge/chrys, ford no problem. Hence my replies. |

Holy crap. You gave your input, provided the link and I'm sure if he wants to go that route he will. I am trying to provide him with the information that he specifically asked for. And maybe for others who can search for info for when their harness is hacked.
We in the first gen section try and provide some info so others can also benefit from later on. Bit different from the 2nd gen section i know. thanks. |
Thanks djessence, thats the detailed info i like.
Runscrappyfc3s, i didnt know they told those harnesses you were talking about.....seriously. Now about butchering my wires that is not needed nor is the harness. The connectors that was left behind when the stereo was taken out isnt cut. All i need(which i have) is those clips your crimp down on the wires off the stereo that looks basically like a flat head screw driver(totally forgot name). You can plug each wire indiviually into each wire on the stock harness. Easy does it. Thanks everyone! |
