Quick Question.. What's the diff between -SE suspension and GSL

I might be picking up a GSL, and i wanted to know what could swap over? I know that there is the different bolt pattern and rotor size, but what about the shocks and suspension arms etc...could the internals from the GSL be swapped into my -se rear end? Also what are the other differences between the 2 cars besides engine... ?

Any input is great!

Thanks

JIMMY

It's mostly different, but you could make it work.

Jimmy, don't do that. You already have an SE suspension.

Some of the differences include:

Bolt pattern is different for the wheels
(SE is more common for nice rims)
SE has bigger front and rear disc brakes.
SE have VENTED rear discs (not solid)
SE has 4.076 rear end, GSL- 3.909
SE has thicker front and rear swaybars
SE has taller 5th gear

You can swap the rear end internals, but why? Is yours fried?

Im in need of a new LSD, but i wasn't planning on swapping the diff, Im aware of the vented disks, bolt battern etc. I was just more interested in using the LSD if possible and the suspension arms, because mine are in pretty bad shape... If the car is no use to me, i will probably end up parting it out....

Also this car has the tokico shocks in the rear , not sure about the front and i wanted to know if they would swap over?

Shocks should swap over. Go to the Tokico site or Shox.com and see if the part numbers are different for the GSL's and SE's to make sure though.

Do you have any idea of those arms that go from the Diff to the frame of the car should swap over? Or the LSD?

Thanks again!!

the rear shocks DO swap over. But the front shocks DON'T. Also you cannot swap the diff unless you swap the whole thing over since GSL-SE has larger axles.

the rear axle is a direct swap,
there is one bar your better off leaving on the diff though because its a bitch o get off,
there all the same size though.

if yours is bad then swap it over,
it will take a day then when you get the right one swap it back.

here is my old thread on how to swap gs to gsl-se suspension,

gs to gsl-se suspension how to

i just did a COMPLETE suspension swap from 84 gs to 85 gsl-se
