Quick brake question

I have a 1980 (SA) and need to do the rear brakes. Are the drums, shoes, and "parts kit" the same for an 81-85?

Nevermind, looked it up. Not the same. Anyone know what the difference is?

no clue as to the differences. unless the FB had a larger diameter drum i can't see how they'd be difference. or maybe the SA didn't have the auto adjusters.

i could measure some parts out for you as i have both axles laying around at my shop, but i remember running into this a few years back when i bought some drums and shoes for my '79. something about a pre-something month '80 build date.... either way, i still have a set of brand new, never used early SA shoes and drums :O

I already ordered shoes, but I could use those drums! What I found out was that the early '79s had a different style of drum, the late '79-80 used the same style drum. The '79-80 had manual adjusters and the '81-later had automatic adjusters and a different size backing plate behind the drum (they won't fit on the '79-80 and vice versa).

Either way I'll be PMing you about those drums.

lol, i was going to say i think the shoes are the same size, but everything else is different...
