Question on RB Street Header for SE
 

I just received my RB street header for my GSL-SE. Along with the header comes some additional parts for extending the oxygen sensor, etc.

Included is a plug for the inlet to the air pump, and a metal plate to cover the air control & check valve.

Why do I want to do that? Specifically, if I plug the inlet to the air pump, what is the point of having it? Don't I need it? (it does have a warning against removing it.

Besides, there are multiple hoses left unaccounted for...the air control valve (between the two aux port actuators) has one tube from the air pump, and another going to the front of the car (don't recall where off the top of my head).

The other thing is that I have another SE that the previous owner installed an RB header on, and the air control valve and air pump are still on that car.

I need to be able to drive this car on the street. We don't have emissions checks in this county (Bexar County, San Antonio), but they do check to make sure emissions components aren't missing.

you need to remove the acv and air pump, unless you still have a cat. There should be a block off plate that came with the header for the ACV.

There is, but I still have a cat. So, I only remove that if I ditch the cat? Otherwise, I just replace the header and pre-cats, and I am done.

That is odd, because the previous owner did not have a cat, he had a resonator, which he welded on the backpressure tube. He left the air pump and ACV hooked up. It had a hole and leaked anyway...whatever. That just further shows they didn't know what the hell they were doing.

You can leave the air pump and ACV on without having any problem... it will no longer serve any function once you install the RB header & presilencer other than keeping them there to help 'dilute' the dirty exhaust, which is why I kept mine on... or remove it and use the included block off plate.
Your engine can also accelerate faster without the air pump.

I won't be getting the pre-silencer until much later, so I still have a cat (although one is gutted) - the pre-cats are long since gone.

I think I understand now though...they are tied to the cat and must be there to support it. I can't ditch the cat, so I can't ditch them either.
