question guys. help?

I'm desperately trying to figure how to go about changing my '81 FB from carb'd to fuel injected.

Pointers, tips, full blown plans?

not going to be cheap. tweakit.com has a weber style throttle body, then u need a stand alone to control it. what part of sc u in?

The ecu is the killer. A lot of fabrication for little to no inprovement. If you want better fuel economy, fabricating a plate to fit a 3bbl off an 82 honda 1500 will do the trick and learn how to tune it yourself. Rebuild the carb yourself so you know where the jetting and adjustments are, then take the money saved from paying someone else and get a wideband. I hope to pick one up at the wrecker one day and do this for a local volunteer to document, test and prove my idea.

Get a '90/'91 FC motor. It'll give you an honest 160 HP, and they're plentiful. It'll take some work to adapt it, but the total cost and headaches will be less than anything else.

I'm in Beaufort lol, and its not really a right now sorta project cause i don't have the money, its just future planning.

I just got my FB as my first car, and i'm still fixing up the body and everything.
Got it for 500 bucks cause it was so beat up lol.

you need the following....

fuel pump needs to be converted to an EFI one, the gsl-se pump is a good choice...

fuel filter also....

if you can find a gsl-se fuel tank that is good.

then you need to get a new intake manifold, and some kind of throttle body with injector bosses.

you then need an ecu, like haltech, or megasquirt or something.

What about fabricating up an adapter to use the 86 intake system?
I have the 86 upper, lower, dynamic chamber, TB, Injectors, ect. will this work?

No, because there are no injector bungs in the 12A intermediate plate. You could potentially add some somewhere in the manifold, but you'd still need the ability to tune it; the stock tune ain't gonna work, or at least not well.

What's the goal here? What kind of fabrication capability do you have? Budget? If we know that we can better direct you.

the injectors sit on top of the upper manifold, aka they shoot into the intake, therefore, a 86 ecu, and adapter theoretically should work

Only the secondaries are. The primaries are in the intermediate plate. Even if they weren't, you'd need a way to tune it.

Fuji racing also makes some killer ITBs from what I've heard.

Your best bet is to drop an already fuel injected 13B into the car. Even if you managed to fuel inject a 12a, a stock 13B engine will more than likely still make more power and cost a 1/4 of time and money.

Wow, i asked this forever ago and you guys are still fighting about the best way to do it XD
