Project Engine
My brother and I are thinking about buying a 12a or 13b car from the junk yard and start working on the engine. We can't do our own cars, because we need them (he's got an 86, I an 84).
Anyway... if he and I were to take he engine out of the bay, mount it to a motor stand (do we need a special stand? or can we set it on a table or something like that????). How hard is a rotary to put together and take apart. We don't wanna get a whole car working yet, just play with the engine and see if we can learn some things about it. Hopefully it will be Fuel Injected so we don't have to worry about a good carb and stuff. What do you guy think? I don't know THAT much about engines. I am 20, he's 18. We just wanna get into this stuff, and perhaps once we learn about all this... start to build a racer car. :) :) |
Ya you should be able to do it. It realy isn't that hard. No dont use a stand. they are to restrictive and you have to fab up your own or buy the special adapter for like a 100 bucks. Just take it apart on the floor or ona short table. But ya you guys can definitely do it. I am 18 and i ahve built 4 of them now and ported all of them and they have all worked good. I have only done the old carb 13bs and 12a though and one fuel injected 6 port. Any ways that my experience.

Anyways its almost impossible to put it together wrong :) Its easy, have fun! :D |
Hmm that's cool. So if I wanted to get the engine to start "on a table" I would need to hook everything up around it right? hehe, this could be a cool potato gun in the end. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Once you get the flywheel and front cover off, you can always just upend the engine over a bucket :D Works great, actually.
