Mileage on the car?
Modifications to the car?
When did the problem start?

We should have at least the minimum information to work with here, since we can not drive your car.

milage is 160,000. modifications-cold air intake-hollowed cats. the problem started about a week ago just out of the blue. i am in college so the car sits for 2-3 days at a time, don't know it that would have anything to do with it. no clue what is going on.......

The propeller shafts are know to go out on these cars and are non-servicable. check yours for end play on the ujoint and if it's loose, have one made from a drive shaft shop (cheapest) or if you have deep pockets, buy a mazda trix.

Yes the drive line is a place to look, jack the car up, support it on jack stands on level ground. Pull on the drive line back and forth and see if there is any movement in the u-joints.

Another place to look is see if a wheel weight fell off, but that is more speed sensitive not RPM.

Is it only at 3000rpm in 2nd gear?
Does it happen in 4th gear?
Does the vibration get worse or go away as you get faster?
Do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel or is it in the whole car?

the vibration starts at about 3000 rpms in 2nd gear but stays through the rest of the gears. the shaking is only when i push down the gas though. about this drive line....where do i find it under the car? front-back? and where are the u-joints i should be looking for? i don't have my haynes manual with me at school, but if it is in there i can run home this weekend and check that stuff out. how much am i looking to spend if the drive line is bad? thanks

It's between the tranny and rear end, you could get one in junk yard for about $75 w/ no guarentees if you can fin a SE that hasent been picked clean, or $150 from a shop and you are assured a balenced shaft.

that kindof sucks, i was saving up for a header back RB streetport exhaust, guess i will have to put that on hold until tax returns $$$$$$ :)
