You should be fine with those things. I drove my FB 800 miles non stop and it still fired up and idled fine once i was done. We had to put my mom's chevy blazer in the shop after making the same trip

85rx7crazydriver 08-15-09 12:23 AM

yeah, i've done it before, i just wanted to see if anyone had any extra advice.

electrical tape (saved my ass) and duct tape. Aaaah yep, duct tape, I broke one of the rear trailing (control) arms for the rear end. It is tubular and was snapped in half. A small piece of pipe fit inside for support, and a bunch of duct tape kept things together just fine for the drive home.

some good zip ties ........i use zip ties to hold up a oil cooler once

Ditto, good idea.

My buddy's waterpump failed in Ontario. Millions of people in Ontario, many many big cities and no waterpump "ANYWHERE", I had to UPS overnight my spare to him.

Spare alternator belt, and the right tools to change it. Such a simple thing can have you stranded. I've done a few 1600 mile+ round trips in my FB and the only problem I've ever had was a belt started to tear. Changed it out before it got worse and continued without incident. Since then I ALWAYS keep a spare belt behind the passenger seat.

put all the tools in a bucket. that way on the 1000 mile road trip, when NODE needs to puke he can empty the tools out and use the bucket.

if your car is halfway decent, you wont need to work on it at all.

spare waterpump for sure (JUST IN CASE)....i NOW keep a spare waterpump in one of the bins now :)..........

1) spare alt belt
2) ELECTIRCAL TAPE
3) duct tape
4) zip ties
5) tow strap (ask me how i know)
6) spare water pump
7) small box of tools

i would carry all this for a 1600 mile trip...but since you are only doing a 200 mile round trip take spart alt belt, zip tie, elect tape, duct tape, some tools, and one gallon of water :).

made it back ok. no major problems other than stop and go city trafic, leading to boiling coolant coming out of the overflow tank, concert was pretty good also (it would have been better but i was the driver) only 3 20z beers for me, at $5 a beer. what concerts have guys been too?
