powering manual door locks with keyless entry?

anyone ever powered their door locks and also added keyless entry ?

Thinking of doing it on the '79 project car just for fun

There is another thread in the archives as well, but this one covers most things.

I did this too many years ago. I used actuators from a Mazda 626. Believe it or not, there are two slots in the rear lower corners of the doors that look like they were made to accept the acuators. I powered mine with a Code Alarm controller that I tie-strapped to the underside of the steering column. My remote has 2 buttons -- lock and unlock. If I hold the unlock down, it sends a signal to pop the hatch, which is contolled through a solenoid.

All in all the system has worked flawlessly for about 15 years. Oh -- and I installed a lock/unlock switch in the center console. It's a repackaged window switch mounted in the hole where the joystick used to be.

I used this one from blackdragon. Was easy to install and worked great.

I shaved all my key holes and will be doing power soon enough. Easy enough to get the actuators, any audio shop should keep them in stock. Good one can be a little pricy.
