Powerfoam in a GSL-SE, finally been done
 
Hi all, for the past little while my apex seal has been either stuck or broken. I had tried the mmo treatment, and the water treatment and neither worked so i decided to try the power foam treatment. I had read threads about how powerfoam hasnt been doen on a -se so i was just experimenting, but i found it quite easy. Its a 2 person job unless your car will idle long enough for you to do the PowerFoam and the throttle, mine dies about 2 seconds after u let off the gas pedal.

Step 1: Warm up engine

Step 2: Shut off engine and use the straw and put it in the air intake. There is a spot near the upper intake on the big black air intake tube where a smaller nipple comes off and goes into the dynamic chamber also. I pulled that out and put the red straw in it, then put the nipple thing back in.

Step 3: Start the engine again and let it warm up to running temp again.

Step 4: Hold the throttle at about 3500 or 4000 rpm, maybe less depending on how the car runs.

step 5: Start spraying the PowerFoam into the engine. The engine will bog some, if it starts to die give it a minute to warm up. If it doesnt bog its because your red straw got pinched shut when putting that nipple back in(hapened to me) just do it again and it should work.

step 6: I sprayed about 1/4 a can in, you may want to use more or less, but it stinks bad so make sure to keep your garage door open if doing it inside.

step 7: Shut off car when done spraying and let it sit.

Step 8: Restart engine and let it burn off any excess.

After all that the engine sounded much better, still had a stuck apex, or broken, but i noticed alot of carbon came out the read end, i didnt have the garage door open all the way so i have a giant black spot on the garage door from the stuff that game out. It was all liquid thou, no chunks

Wow, how many times can u do it? Just wondering if that apex will come back. I do believe your the first Ive read who has done it. I wanna try it now! I did the water and noticed an improvement so I bet this will breath new life into my 234k -SE.

You need to let some Power Foam sit in the warm engine for a couple of hours (or even overnight).
You'll have to hand-crank it into the motor, or disable the ignition and use the starter. About 1/8 of a can will do it. Then when you fire up the motor after letting it sit, take the car out and drive it at highway speed for at least 30 minutes to insure that all the crud gets blown out and doesn't redeposit itself somewhere even worse, like an apex seal slot.

and what is powerfoam? :)

Powerfoam breaks up carbon really good. Makes it like jelly or goo and it gets shot out the exhuast.Makes the car run alot better usually

Powerfoam is a carburetor and engine cleaner made by AMSOIL . Powerfoam does a great job of cleaning carbon out of rotary engines and it cleans the intake very well. The Powerfoam treatment is on my list of regular maintenance procedures.

Insted of going through all the trouble of finding a manifold vacuum port of shootin it through the idle up tube while the engine is running why dont you just bend the little straw that comes with the powerfoam and shoot it into the Trailing plug hole while cranking the motor over by hand?

Can says to spray it in while running, then shut it off and let it sit for awhile, then restart and take it for a spirited ride

When you spray the powerfoam into the intake of a running engine, it cleans the intake and carb or fuel injection real well, but doesn't do much to de-carbon the rotors. that's why when you crank some into a non-running (but warmed-up) motor and let it sit it cleans the engine internals better than it would if the engine was running and blowing it all out right away.
