Power Window issues on a '84GSLSE

I apologize if this has been posted before but I did a search and couldn't find it.

I just replaced all the power windows parts in my '84 SE. One our fellow members, Steven, sold me two good regulators with motors. When I dissembled the drivers side, I compared the regulators to see which one worked best albeit without a load. The ones I received from Steven were fastest and all the bushing looked better than mine. So, I took the motor apart and lubed it, cleaned the commutator and put it back together. It works fine; I also replaced the felt channel and the two strips one on each side of the window where it comes out of the door and lubed the moving parts on the regulator.

Rinse and repeat. This time, it goes up and down reasonably fast but faster when the engine is on. The problem is I can't get the window on the passenger side to close completely, it's open about a millimeter. I lubed the channels and adjusted all the adjustments but it won't go that far. I'm thinking maybe the felt is to tight so I forced the window all the way up to see what a week will do.

Has anyone else have this problem or any solutions, I'll buy you a beer.

The only thing I have is
take your switches apart & clean & sand.
My windows didn't really work till I did this, my passenger side would go down but not up.

Both work now.

+1 on cleaning the switch, it take about 17minutes, and makes a huge difference.

and second, if you lubed the regulator, and have a new run channel, and it still doesn't work, there is an adjustment, and if that STILL doesn't fix it, it needs a regulator

Many years ago, I had a stubborn regulator, so I took it apart and examined it closely. Some of the rolling bushings were supported by pins that were swaged into the metal arms. In most of the pins, the swage (looks like the mushroomed tail of a rivet) was loose. Under load, this would allow the pin to deflect, causing binding in the system.

I removed all of them, drilled and tapped them through, and sustituted high strength screws, washers, and Loctite. I also loaded them all with Lithium grease. This reduced the deflection, and brought them back to good function.

Mine are very stubborn. I am going to clean the switch and keep all of those fixes in mind.
