Power window conversion

Ok, I just got some power window regulators off e-bay for $1 each, and I'm a little confused about the wiring. Is the harness already in place (i have an 82)? I couldnt really see too well into the door, I may have seen wires, but maybe not. I also found one connector under the center console thing behind the shifter, not sure if thats related either. Anyway, what kind of switch do i need to get, and how should i wire it to the windows? thanks.

power windows

All rx7's are wired for all options. The harness for the power window switches is in the center console trim, You need to pop out the block off plates and put the stock switches in. I presume that you have the power window motors. The harness that connects to the motors is located under the left side console i would have to check one of my parts cars, Everything just bolts in, very simple changeover. rx7doctor

Ach! power windows suck, and they are definatley not needed on a two door.

I really wish I didn't have them.............

I can't seem to find any wires inside the doors, nor can I see any wires going into the door in any places. Is it possible that I got an rx7 without the wires run into the doors?

most likely the wires were not ran in the doors (though mine are) but I would definatley think that the main wiring harness has the plugs to hook up and go through the door boots. I believe it is a simple 2 or 3 wire setup. It should be pretty easy to make something work.

I had power windows installed in my 81 w/ no problems. Wiring was already there.

Good info. I am doing the same thing.

check the doors at the hinges. You should see the harness going through at that point. It's true that all the 7's had all of the wires for the options. It's still a standard practice today. It's cheaper and easier for the manufacturer. If there's no wires, then somebody's pulled them out.

That is what I've thought also, however my GS doesn't have the PW harness in either door and it looked like the plastic liner had never been off the doors. Most of the other 1st gens I've worked on, have had the harness though.

I will work on my 7 this Friday hopefully mine still has the harness.
