power steering

I wanna get rid of my power steering pump in my car but I don't know what to do with the hoses. I was thinking maybe just take the two hoses that come out of the pump and mate them to each other. does anyone know a good way to do this without destroying anything?

Yes, I was wondering about this too. So far I just took off the belt and I actually like the steering better that way. But now, should I remove all that power steering stuff and how?
Thanks for any advice.

I did exactly what you are thinking of on my '85 GSL. Just find a short, U-shaped piece of tubing that will hold up to PS fluid and connect the two nozzles on the top of the steering gear. Secure it well with small hose clamps. Be sure to completely fill both sides of the unit with fluid before installing the tube, working it in by turning the wheel back and forth as needed and patiently letting it seep in. Check for leaks within the next couple of weeks; the last thing you want to do it run it dry. Take off everything that you can, including the mounting bracket.

I've been driving it on the street and track for four years with no problems. It really helps clean up the engine bay, eliminates quite a bit of weight, and drives and steers great.

Good luck! Mike

Hey thanks, I wanna get rid of the bracket because its a pita to get to the spark plugs. Now for my next project I need to find a way to get rid of that crazy looking oil cooler I have under my filter.
