post-swap electrics help! everything's together, something is shorting

So i got everything together in my '84 GSL-SE. It's a bit of a hybrid. '86 engine w/ '86 intake. i plugged the '86 secondary injector holes and am just running the -SE 680ccs in the primary location.

to keep things simple, i went with using the -SE computer and the dizzy ignition. all the emissions garbage is removed, as are the AC and PS.

when i tried to start it this afternoon, it wasn't getting any spark. hammmy checked the ignition coils with a multimeter and they aren't getting juice. i checked the fuse panel under the driver's side dash and discovered a blown fuse. looking at it with the panel mounted in position, it's on the north american passenger side, second from the driver's seat. 20a fuse.

after we replaced the fuse, it blew again as soon as i switched the key into the "on" position.

any recommendations on where i should start looking? the wiring diagram says it goes to several things including the fuel pump and, iirc, ignition. i didn't touch the fuel pump at all during the swap process and the only electronics i messed with were what i needed to disconnect in order to pull the engine out.

i'm hoping this is a common issue. thanks for any help!

I don't know what to say other than look for the obvious, do a thouro (sp) scan of the engine bay and make sure all wires are going where they need to be and that nothing is being pinched <-- happend to me, and that the fuse is of the right amp.

rar. looks like taking the UIM off will be a good excuse to make sure it's getting fuel. OH WAIT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE KEEPS POPPING.

/cry

Not having access to a first gen, I couldn't tell you.

having access to a 1st gen, i'm looking pretty stumped. ;p

use that multi meter and test the continuity of them wire, then resistance

What AFM are you using?

The GSL-SE EGI system runs on 5volt and isn't compatible with the s4/5 AFM.

using the GSL-SE AFM. i'm also using the S4 TPS. not sure if that might be causing the problem. i suppose i'll swap 'em next time i work on it and see if that does anything.
