Possible RX-7 owner. Need help!
I am thinking of buying an RX-7 and I was wondering if it was possible to transplant a later engine with a turbo into the 1st gen car. I get the gist you can but how much is it going to cost? Also: I'm a Toyota guy so I have no flippin idea about anything Mazda... Are Rotarys fairly reliable? Do the parts cost a lot? Any help would be appreciated...

I did a search and I couldn't find any price figures. I was planning on getting it done professionally.
Also: I do love the RX-7. It's a nice car. My friend had one. But I would like to know the possibility of performance... Thanks. MKIII88turbo |
Ok, dont worry about it, we'll just do all the work for you...
Step one, go to one of the following places, they sell engines: corksport.com fc3s.org mazdaracing.com mazdatrix.com Step two, pick out an engine that you want. Step three, purchase said engine. Step four, call places and find out how much it will cost to install it Step five, choose place to install engine and deliver engine and car to place Step six, wait for car to be finished Step seven, add the cost of engine and installation to get idea of cost of project. Anything else I can do for you? ~T.J. PS - Substitute store in step one for store of choice if necessary. |
I wouldn't deal with mazdaracing.com if I were you. I did it once and I'm still pissed about it.

Ok, sorry about that last post, my Mom and I got in an argument, and I wasnt quite over it yet :(...but there was some truth to it, you just need to look on some websites that sell engines and what not, thye usually have some good info on what you will need. Also, call around and find a shop that can do it, and as far as prices, your gonna have to find all that out yourself because we dont know which specific engine youre gonna want, and we dont know where youre gonna take it to have it installed.
~T.J. PS - Once again I am sorry :(. |

Oh and as far as performance, there are several 10 & 11 Sec 1st Gens on this forum, and plenty in the 12's. (then again, there are plenty in the 16's+:D ) |
