Possible replacment for the FMOC?
 

Hey guys,
Still getting all sorts of components for my widebody and I found this FMOC that appears pretty interesting. I have been told NEVER NEVER EVER reuse a FMOC due to the fact that it will have all sorts of crap in it that will just go straight back into your engine. And I was told that there is no way to clean it, just replace it. We all know how expensive these damn things are to replace to something like 700 bucks for the OEM one?

What do you guys think about these ones?

slightly off topic, but will the FMOC lines from a 12a match up and work with a TII swap?

And here is another question, what do you guys think about these rotors? Seem like a damn good buy considering they are Brembo and vented for like 35 dollars...

I apoligize if this is a huge repost or something but I have never heard of it, I just came across this website and it seems like it has alot of good things for us.

Don't believe everything you hear, or read Dan. Oil coolers can be cleaned, I do mine at home with a parts washers and 5-6 cans of brake clean. If you want to be safe and sure, send it out for ultrasonic cleaning. I would have to say no to the aftermarket oil cooler, unless you want to be the guinea pig for testing.

New oil coolers hoses, no way around that. You don't know how long the old ones will last. For me this is a 'Do it right the first time" item that I never have to worry about again. If you have read my write up in the archives, my hoses cost me less than half of Mazdatrix's price, and I could mount my cooler anywhere I chose.

Looks like a good find on the brake rotors, how much is the shipping?

Well it was from a very reliable source that I was told that... (my college mechanics teachers who have been working in the trade for over 30 years) They just said that they are replacment only parts so im just kind of in a bind, I have a dirty old oil cooler that was in my car when I got it, but I don't know if there is any ultrasound cleaners anywhere around here. I guess I could clean it up the best I can, but its just kind of playing with fire...

And as far as the shipping goes on the rotors here is a quote from the site "Orders $50.00 or more will be shipped UPS ground for Free to the 48 US States" but the international shipping (for my because im in Canada) appears to be like 35 dollars. But sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, it sure is damn tough to build a car on a budget.

Call your local Air port and find out where they send parts for Sonic cleaning. There is also a guy in TN that will clean them for $30 last time I checked. If you are worried about metal flakes, add an oil filter on the out line of the cooler.

The biggest concern with a used oil cooler is what happened to the previous motor. If it ate the bearings, the flakes can be deposited in the cooler. Study the oil flow diagram in the FSM.

My 1st rebuild, I made a critical error and had no oil pressure. In 6 hours of run time, mostly idling in the shop, and couple of 8k rpm runs through 1st and 2nd when I knew the motor was coming back out, I roasted all 4 bearings and the e-shaft. Cleaned out the oil cooler and it is cooling the present rebuild with over 2k on the motor.

Sunday, the 1/4 track is open for Grudge Match Day. If I can get my ass out of bed in time, I'll meet up with a group going and find out how the WB-bp runs.

one of the better coolers to use is off of a doge truck that had a cummings in it. Although I cant remember what years had the FM though some had a water cooled ones.
