posible coolant fowling plugs
 

hey quest ion is there any way for coolant to get into the chamber and fowl the plugs , sorry if this is such a basic question , oh yea thanks to the replys on my dist igniter post , got it fix'd thanks, fire on all plugs now ,but plugs are getting wet and can't tell it's fuel for positive

Yeah, its possible for coolant to get in through a bad water seal somewherel. It could need a rebuild because its a bad water seal on a housing, or it could just be a bad O ring on the intake manifold. Look for white smoke when its running, that should tell you if its burning water or not.

well it's geting it running that is the problem, it'l amost run then stalls , sort of over run the starter like it is going to fire up but only once did it ever for a few seconds actualy run on it's own,, been 4 yr's sence it has run, rust showing on the rad out side olike an over heat at some time in it's life , are these intake o-ring on the lower intake houseing to the block ?

Yes, the o-rings are located at the intake/block interface. Theres 2 of them.

ok little more info, and more question's
well today i decide'd to do it right cheking fuel pressures etc, well a new set of plugs, and the old pressure gauge going up to 36 lbs and staying there, for 25 min seem'd to indicate the inj's were holding ,so i crank'd her over, fire'd right up , with a big cloud of smoke , but about 10 sec later die'd,and wouldn't hit a lick after that,
ok time to pull the upper intake and see whats going on, i knew this was going to happen because of the fire extinguisher stuff all over the outter side of the upper intake (of course no one knows how it got there)

ok intake s off, what i find is all 4 of the oil injector lines are melt'd off,clear to the outter edge of the intake where they mount in the clip,, no damage to the inj's or inj wireing or fuel lines,
Question what cause'd this , is this a sign of engine over heating,if so whats the odds the engine is worth a darn , seems to have good compression, still haven't gotten the lower intake off, to check the o-rings, but no coolant in the oil at all

Maybe some of the SE guys can chime in here.

Well, if it had a fire, I would be interested to see why. I hear the pulsation dampener and the injectors are good candidates for engine fire starters.

TJ i'l agree, this is my hold up right now,,why the fire,, it was not fuel relate'd,,i've been a mech all my life and have seen plenty of fires (i'm 60 now ),,the odd thing is the plastic lines are completely melt'd but the rubber vacum supply mess of vacum lines are still perty much togather, as if it was the lines them selves that was hot , fuel spilt from the tb inlet from trying to start the engine i would think would get every where , better yet here's a pic of what i have
