Please help with blower motor

I did a search on here and didn't get what I was looking for. I need a new blower motor because mine is pitiful. I was wondering if anyone made an aftermarket one, that any of you may know of? The A/C works, it's just that barely any air blows out and down here in LA, you need A/C. Any help is appreciated. thanks. LAter.

It may not be the blower motor. On the 1st Gen cars, the linkages that control the flaps in the A/C venting system can sometimes get stuck or the wire can break, leading to a flapper that is constricting the airflow. If this is the case, putting in a new blower motor (BAP, Autozone, Checker all have it) will not fix the problem. Also, attached to the inside of the blower housing is a small 1"x2" detachable rheostat housing which has windings of metal wire which provide the resistance to give you either 3-speed (SA), or 4-speed (FB) fan speeds. If this unit has been damaged, you'll have to find a replacement at a junkyard, as not even Mazdatrix shows a listing for a factory replacement. I had to rebuild mine out of a combination of parts, and with a little soldering, it now works as designed.

If you replace the blower motor, and this doesn't fix the problem, begin looking at the controls that go to the ducting between the driver and passenger footwells. On the transmission 'hump', is the heater core and all the ducting that controls the flow of air from the blower housing to the heater or A/C ducts. You'll see one large door that controls whether hot air or cold air is routed to the exit ducts on the dash. If this door doesn't work, and by chance, you have a leaky heater core controller valve, you're going to get hot air blowing and diluting the cold air charge from the interior evaporator (A/C core).

Get this part sorted out right away, and you'll be able to use your A/C in the hot summertime. HTH,

I've got the surrounding pieces of the blower motor assembly from a 83 GSL. Unfortunately, I needed the blower for myself.
