please help with analysis

greetings group,

the details are:

last nite while driving home, i stopped to hit an instant teller for some drinking $$$. when i returned to car, it wouldn't start. there was power -lights worked, etc. popped hood, looked around, checked oil.

nothing in the filler spout but on the dipstick, there was some major white/grey scum. after sitting 10 minutes i tried to fire it up again, and reluctantly it did. drove immediately home, no beer...

this morning went to check things out in the daylight. slight condensation in filler tube, but nothing on the dipstick, though oil looked dirtier than expected (i changed oil/filter (oem/20w50) 500 kms ago). tried to start, fired up no problem. 15 minutes of idling, shut down, recheck everything, nada. discovered a coolant leak near the thermostat housing, but that's another issue...

only mods are racing beat exhaust, k/n filter. it has gotten a lot colder here in quebec and i have been experiencing some hard starting/idling the last week and a half, but i figured that was cuz i blocked off a valve when i replaced the exhaust (i closed off all the things r/b instructed to but found a couple of remaining valve thingys which i blocked off too -i figured whatthe hell). car does not smoke but at the start-up and with choke pulled, nothing at high speeds and acceleration. oh yes, the car is an 84 gs.

what do you guys think it could have been? unlucky, one time h2o condensation? i did some searching and came across this "pcv" blockage/overfilling oil etc producing sludge. how could i check this possibility? how about checking the charcoal cannister? can you pop the thing open or can you only look in the tubes?

much appreciation,
norman ng

sorry, it's Sunday ... and i'm a bit slow ... so bear with me. what exactly are you analyzing? why the car wouldn't start or the "creamy-sludge-scum-crap"?

You cant do anything with the cannister. That prolly isint your problem though. How do you have your crankcase vent setup?

greetings,

looking for answers to both -maybe they are linked?

the scary part was finding the slime in the dipstick. for sure it didn't look like it should be there. anyone else here ever encounter this situation? as to the crankcase vent details, i recognize i'm no mechanic. i just followed the exhaust install instructions. i haven't fooled around with anything else -learning as i go...

thanks,
n. ng
