Hey guys, just if any of you want to see my car, i took pictures of it today, finally.

Very nice looking car. By the way, how did you go abotu mounting those speakers in front?

The audio shop insisted that it was impossible, and that i would have to buy new speakers (through them of course). THey were also going to charge 200 bucks for the install.

First thing to do is make a template for the speaker riser. I did this by taping cardboard together, (using the 6" speaker mount template provided by the box from the speakers) to the desired height (away from the wall). At this time you also need to find the optimal placing of the mount on the panel. Mark the panel w/ marker, and drill out the hole to fit the magnet through. Remember, add the height of the speaker to the top of the template for clearance issues. (to make sure everything fits)

3/4" worked perfect for me, the speakers fit (although the covers didnt), and the magnet sinks nicely right into the previos speaker well.

You really have to experiment around with how to fit the speaker, as on the left side you have the hood release to deal with (i bent mine out of the way and made it vertical), and on the right you have some AC thing i think. Take out the kick panels, moving them around, and keeping the magnet inside the old speaker well. Use the cardboard template to get an idea of speaker placement.

I am not a professional audio installer, and i dont know what would happen if the magnet touched the metal. I dont think it would cause any problem, but just to be sure, mount it so it is free floating in the well!!! You may have to drill a new hole in the kick panel to screw it to the wall (i moved the right one towards the back of the car about 2", and one inch up, i think...)

So i took a 6" speaker mount template, and jigsawed it out of 3/4" thick particle board. I Painted it black, predrilled the mounting screws, and fastened the riser board (particle board) to the kick panel (drilled through the back of the kick panel, into the back of the speaker mount. I used 5 screws per mount, space them evenly, w/o interfereing w/ the speaker screws).

Screw in the speakers BEFORE mounting the kick panel/riser assembly to the wall. THere is not enough room to work in there if its screwed in already.

That should be it. if that made no sense, pm me, i can take pictures and such.

i'm going to order clear sides yes, but i'm selling this car.

It started back in '85, our close family friend purchased this baby off the lot.

He drove it as a cruise car, never raced it, never drove it hard. One day my dad and him were talking about it, and our friend mentioned he was selling it. My dad asked for how much, and our friend said $2500. My dad said straight up, "I'll buy it". So we drove two cars home that trip. (they live 3 hours away).

My dad drove this car about 1/4 mile every day to work and back. The highest he ever reved it was probably 4k rpm. He had it repainted from the dark grey/black type paint from the factory (i've never seen somethign close to it, really...) to a metallic black. It has red, blue, yellow, green, and purple sparkles in it. Very beautiful.

I was never interested in the car until i started looking at getting my first one, when i was about 16.5 years old. My dad was letting me drive his rx7 around until i decided to get a new car.

My friend, who has always loved sports cars, one day asked to drive it. I had never been in it when someone was... "DRIVING" it... as in, not just stoplight driving. I couldnt beleive what i was sitting in!

Then i went from a boy to a man. I had to own this rx7 as my own. Luckily nobody had replied to my dad's "for sale" ads in the papers, and i tlaked him into GIVING me the car! (officially mine upon graduation from HS). The rest is history.

Why am i selling this car? Because i'm going to buy a GSL-SE of course! It is the factory baby metallic blue, with nice silver/polished aluminum 16" rims, new BFG racing rubber, and a nice 13b under the hood. I see more upgrade options down the road for this car, than i do with my GS.

In case you are curious, I'm in washington state, doing a $3,000 OBO on it.

I know thats a high price for online, but i have put a shitload of TLC and elbow grease into this thing. Around here i could get that for it, easy. (the stereo stays with me though) ;)

one thing: potential buyers of used cars could care less what elbow grease the owner has into it as far as paying a price premium. If you can get what you're asking, great, but don't expect buyers to think your labour translates into them paying more than market value.

I have customized the interior, is mainly what i'm talking bout.

And spent hours grinding away at two wheels, polishing htem up. It wasnt worth the effort, so only half the car is finished.

I know that it doesnt add anything to value really, so i'm going to stop working on it altogether.

Damn...Nice looking car. I really like the clear signals, clear markers would look good too. That muffler is hella nice looking too, what kinda is that? It looks like the MagnaFlow I was gonna buy...Whats the sound like?

It sounds like... HHMM. tomorrow i'll maybe record an mp3 of it and put it up for you alls.

Its at DT Sport or something, whatever the local muffler shop carries. DUal 3" tips, 2.5" inlet, straight through design.

Coupled with the racing beat street ported exhaust, its a very pleasurable sound. Turns heads wherever i go. Blows ricers out of the water. Amazing sound. (havent even gotten pulled over yet, even full open driving by a po po)
