Picture of my new itty bitty IC

I think I m gonna do away with the black metal brackets that once held the radiator and condenser together. Looks like I can get this to fit pretty easily with the radiator...

Any thoughts on this?

peejay 06-05-02 07:04 PM

Just stick it out in front of the bumper, like the push bar on the General Lee. :D :D

eddierotary 06-05-02 07:31 PM

what is it. a isuzu npr intetcooler.

moremazda 06-05-02 07:31 PM

wear are you going to mount that, in the passenger cab or just replace the hood? :D Wait, new sunroof right?

mar3 06-05-02 07:48 PM

He's going to have to split the radiator and run them in side pods like a rally car or Formula 1...

S2-13BT 06-05-02 07:55 PM

Wow... That's quite an IC. We'll definately want pics of it installed.

Make sure you don't block too much air to the radiator with that thing.

It's a shame there isn't a good way to hang them out front of the car, with the bumper designed the way it is.

Good luck!

gamble302 06-05-02 08:33 PM

hey s2-13bt, you have any pics of your car? i just like seeing turbo 1st gens even if they are on a different continent than me.

S2-13BT 06-05-02 09:06 PM

Yeah, I've got some pics, but only recent pics I took of the big ass dent in my drivers side front 1/4 panel. The result of a lady failing to giveway.

I'll take some pics of the car once it's all fixed up, which will hopefully be soon. The car is a completely stock looking white '81, only slightly lowered with tinted windows. It's definately a sleeper which can surprise some people. It's even fairly quiet!

Later.

S2-13BT 06-05-02 09:27 PM

No, no... she hit me! :) Put a dent in her walking frame and all.

Just kidding. Sorry to hijack your thread too... back to the IC people.

See ya.

gamble302 06-05-02 09:32 PM

anyone else though about cuttin the firewall where the panel is for the wiper and sprayer nozels. at first i was thinkin iddy bitty ic, but then oil cooler came to mind, but now i think im retarded cause all the hot air would go out through it. why not just leave it like that for cooling, would that help?

Yeah sorry, its a large NPR intercooler :D

zyounker 06-07-02 10:04 AM

SO Mike,

You still gonna be running the stock radiator?

I have a griffen and a small NPR for my car.. I am having to make new mount supports and ducting. But it should be nice when done.

I have seen on road race cars where the oil coolers are layed flat, then an airscoop is fabricated to direct the air up through the cooler. Seems to be very effective. Not sure how it would work on a ic or if there is enough realestate under the front bumper for that giant?

MIKE-P-28 06-07-02 10:18 AM

The stock radiator fit inside of the ducts nicely w/o the brackets, but that doesnt seem practical. I chasing many different thoughts through my head to mount it, I might trade Alex for his small polished one?

If I use the big one, then I can get alex another they had 3 of them :D

i have that big IC

dude i have that big NPR IC mounted in my SA with no problem, except for relocating the battery to the back......i mounted it in front of the radiator & my car still cools normal with the blackmagic fan ....u'll have to cut the both sides of the radiator support to fit the IC ,cuz that NPR is alot wider than the rad....it didnt look to bad & u didnt really see the iC from the engine bay....i dont have a digi cam so i cant take any pics......if anyone in the NYC (bronx) area wanna come take some pics and post it let me know.......this is a tempory mounting position for it....i'm in the process of fabing a new rad support out of aluminum sheet metal,it'll look alot nicer than the hacked stock one....ZooM ZooM to Turbo1stGen.com
