pics - sweet FBs

Hey FB/1st Gen owners.

Here's a few pics that really show how good FBs look. Funny - I seem to collect more 1st gen than 3rd gen pics :D

sweet, I like the yellow one, and since my '79 is in pretty nasty shape I might just have it painted that color, looks nice.. Ima have to photoshop a few of 'em and change the colors, see what looks best on the RX-7..

Oh, and you do know that that green one is just a photoshop job, don't you?

Um no, that is actually a graphic from a game being developed for the X-box games console. That's why it says X-box game above the pic.:D

Love those savanna J-spec "hood mirrors." If I ever buy an FB, that's the first think I want to do.

Bern, Where you get that hood! That looks hella nice on a first gen! :) Okay, Nevermind, I assume it is a Mariah! But, what did it run you? And is the scoop functional?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, it's a one off piece that we through together at (you're right) Mariah. We took a stock T-II hood insert and scoop and grafted it to a stock 1st gen hood. It took quite a bit of bonding and curing. We actually riveted the scoop to let it cure and then removed the rivits for final blend and prep. It's very important to do a good job prep'ing the hood and scoop or it'll start to unbind itself and crack the paint, with the heat cycling.

Oh yea, the hood scoop is functional, as far as cooling the engine goes. I have a FMIC.

It would run about $800. to reproduce the hood. If I remember correctly, it was about 20 hours of shop time to complete the hood.

ok i see all these sweet exteriors, but wheres a nice interior. im lookin in berns direction, hes the one with the roll bar and custom mounted sparcos. come to think of it i have yet to see an interior pic of an fb with a roll bar.

MIKE-P-28 11-07-01 05:54 AM

I like on the red one at the very top with the whale tail, they imported the rotary engine badge from a 79-80 :) I like that touch..

I got a whale tail like that on my 80, but its got the horns that go farther up the quarter. never seen but maybe 1 or 2 other like that. wonder if that spoiler is rare? I got it from Pacific Styling accecories like 10 years ago...

Wonder if the silver one with the Turbo II hood scoop is functional?
