Parts sources?

Are there any parts companies supplying parts for the 1st gens? I know Black Dragon is out of business and they are the only ones I knew about.

Mazdatrix and Atkins plus Mazda still sells a lot of the basic consumables as well.

I've called Ray Crowe for a few things and it was about a 50% hit rate.I'll check out what Mazdatrix has. I am not a fan of Atkins generally.

i'm sure Ray is on top of this, but Mazda USA's (crappy) new parts catalog only goes back to 1986. so you have to go back to the microfische, which is online.

but basically Mazda has a ton of stuff for the 1st gens, but its all stranded inventory, because its not in the catalog anymore, so its days are numbered. as is the new parts catalog, as its flash based, and its just clunky and terrible, oh and if compare it with the microfishe, and old EPC, its sometimes wrong.

so fist gen parts good, Mazda has them. new parts catalog bad

I think I'm going to remanufacture my interior and stick an NA 3 rotor in with an FC front subframe and repaint it. I'll need fewer hard to find parts.

I know you will probably go EFI, but I would love to see it with three Weber DCDs sitting above one of your beautiful headers, Old School Cool!!

Hey, Robert. Decided to join the older old school. I hadn't really thought about carbs for the 20b idea. If I went that way, I would need about 300 hp to just'fy it and am not sure what the carbs would do. It's worth considering, since In could avoid the expense and hassle of an ECU. Especially one like the Motec I run on the FD. And, it would sound and look great.

Thanks, Vinny. I'm still taking inventory and thinking about the repaint.

The right ports would probably be a bit shy of 300, but not by much, and would have really good bottom end.

I think the DCDs would flow enough.

i know this is probably way off the deep end, but Roger Mandeville's car looks like it should have a 3 rotor...

And it would sound amazing. How about a 4 rotor with 2 hogged out nikkis? I think that would be very interesting. I think you can get 12A hardware from Oz to do it too!

Best place to find used parts is usually here on the forum in the 1st Gen Classifieds section, just have to be patient and willing to wait on parts. eBay also has some decent parts for these cars, since some of us still post stuff up for sale on there.
