Ya want to be careful with the racing Panasports. There are words IIRC stamped in the wheels "NOT FOR STREET USE".
Have Fun ; ) David |
Acutually....it has "FOR RACING PURPOSE ONLY" stamped on them....i just check mine...which are right next to the computer...not used during winter....yup.

Don't hit a curb with the Panasports, either. I'd say don't hit another car, but that's not too likely to produce little to no damage on the street, so I won't. But, if you track it, don't hit another car! :D |
Excuse my ignorance, but whats different about the racing version?

Also Nice to see you again. I dont think you have been around in a long time. |
I got an email from a fella that is using my old engine and had a few questions, glad to see it found a good home Matt. So that made me want to stop by and see what everyone was up to.
Unfortunately I think the rotary bug has bitten again! It is very tempting now too, especially since I wouldn't have to depend on it as a daily driver. I've had a few other cars since the wreck , but that litlte 7 is stil the one I miss the most! Back on topic: So the racing version is lighter, but is it a weaker wheel? People seem to imply that it is morely likely to get bent if you hit a nasty pothole, curb etc. |
The racing 13 x 7 Panasport weight is 9 pounds & with the saying "FOR RACING PURPOSE ONLY" I would think an isurance company would have an "out" if the car was crashed including some destroyed wheels. (Mine are on an ITA/7 race car) Yes it is a weaker wheel because Panasport has machined the crap out of the cast alum wheel to get it down to 9 pounds.
There are lighter yet wheels out there for race cars. The same 13 x 7 spun 3 piece alum racing wheel from a company in Iowa is at 7 pounds & they tell ya to STAY OFF THE RUMBLE STRIPS because the rims will bend. There intent for the wheels is cone crushing. Have Fun ; ) David |

this is my car with the good ol' wheels. yup.
|
yes, the "racing" 13X7 may be a little weaker... but with a 60mm sidewall IIRC, you probably wont bend a rim even on the worst rumble strips... or "alligator teeth" as referred to at summit point
