Overheating everything WTF!!!

Ok I have an 85 RX7 with the 12A. It has a RB header and full 3 inch exhuast on it. I ran it this way for about a month with the rats nest removed and everything was great. Then I found a RB intake/carb system for it on ebay. I put the system on this weekend and when i started it the choke wouldn't shut off and the overheat exhaust light came on and steam was comeing out of the engine bay. I let it cool for about 2 hours and started it again hopeing the choke wouldn't come on at all this time. Well it did this time i watched everything closely and the overheat exhuast light never came on but I noticed that the temp guage was reading really high it was way to the right near over heating. I quickly shut the car off but I'm stuck and don't know what to do. I haven't played with the fuel mixture at all but could that be it? Oh, I also have an electric fan on the car. I don't know what to do, please help!

Well, youre going to have to be a little more specific about the carb system you bought, RB has a few different ones. Did you refill with the proper coolant mixture after taking the intake manifold off? Where was the steam coming from? Did it possibly come off the header from from the coolant spilling on it when you took the manifold off? In all honesty, Im kinda surprised that light came on, Ive never seen one that worked, lol. How is the fan wired, thermostat or switch? If thermostat, did the fan kick on at all? Its possible the mixture being too lean could cause the engine to run hotter, but I wouldnt think it would cause it to overheat THAT much, but who knows, Ive seen stranger things!

EDIT: I thought you controlled the choke from inside the car, youre going to have to explain what its doing a little better too.

It's RB's 465 CFM intake set up and the carb that comes with it is electric and not a mecanical. I did refill the coolant afterward. I thought the steam might be from the coolant that spilled during the removal of the old system but it was coming off the top of the engine and from around the radiator cap. Also the car is ideling really high like at 4,000 rpms as if the cokes on but I started it with out the air filter on and the choke plate was all the way open. I'm very worried.

sounds like a vacuum leak.............. a big one.
you did replace all of the gaskets and hooked up all the vacuum lines right?

what jets does it have, i wouldnt screw around too much your engine could be very lean (i could be wrong so dont flame me) and lean means HOT! just be sure its not your carb
